Police Disrupts Gay Wedding, In Kano, Arrests Groom

The Sharia police command (Hisbah) in Kano
has disrupted an alleged wedding ceremony
between two men and arrested one of the
grooms.
The arrested was confirmed by the Hisbah
Sharia Guard commander, Aminu Daurawa,
who told reporters that the other groom in the
illegal union is at large.
The arrested groom, Faruk Maiduguri, was
paraded alongside fourteen others who were
at the venue of the 'wedding ceremony'.
Sheik Daruwa told reporters that the Sharia
police swooped down on the men at a
recreational resort in Dawakin Kudu local
government area of the state.
Hisbah commander said,"we got intelligence
report that some youth, all men were planing
a wedding of two of their friends, and that
Faruk and Abba (bride) who is on the run had
under the guise of celebrating Faruk's birthday
sent out invitation on WhatsApp and printed
out cards that friends should join them in the
epoch-making event."
In response to the accusation, the suspected
homosexual Maiduguri denied getting married

MUST READ: 8 Mistake Ladies And Guys Make When They Meet Each Other Online

In as much as mistakes are inevitable in
everyday life, some mistakes can be
avoided spontaneously or mistakes can be
made perpetually , as it is common said a
friend at hand is better than a brother
abroad, it is common knowledge that you
can't know someone completely but how
you begin matters alot especially if you
met online, here are some common
mistakes made by both sexes in the cause
of interaction
1. Acting too cold Ladies acting too cold
and uninterested during first chat kills the
zeal and interest of well meaning guys
towards them. Dear ladies, learn to be free
with a guy & be lively, stop acting as if you
just came out from a cold room,or your in a
sober period or someone gonna die if you
act lively
2. Replying with code words Replying with
one letter words like- k, gud, hw, wen, fyn,
etc...this is a crime to human
communication; no matter your gender &
who u are chatting with, learn to stop it.
(later if you fail exams now you go
begin blame one spirit wey no the exist)
3. Asking for picture too soon - guys are
fond of this bad habit of asking a lady they
met online for her pics you be graphic
designer? even on their first day of chat;
please guys stop it! Get to know her first &
see beyond her. Physical looks. Let me put
it to you "THE LOVE OF BEAUTY iS THE ROLL
OF DICE " implying when casting a dice you
may get a very wrong number when you
targeting a bigger number
4. Asking what he does for a living: this is a
big crime our ladies commit! Yes, its
good to know what he does for a living but
this usually send wrong signal to a guy
with good intentions towards you, so avoid
it and gradually get to know him & not just
what he does & how much he earns.you
need to look beyond his pocket to get the
best out of a man.
5. Sex chat: many guys today are so fond of
this nonsense, guys please grow up! Even if
u must sex chat with her, pls knw her first
& make sure u two are into each other,
stop being in a haste! Besides self what the
fun in sex chat? You wan stain your
boxers abi? Pity your boxers if you no pity
yourself abeg
6. Begging for gifts Begging for recharge
card, gift, BIS, other favours- this is bad for
anyone to do, please stop it! why beg
for an inch when you can have it all, ladies
trade with caution, na from Waka person
the see Race
7. Late responses: nothing kills a guy's
interest in a lady he met online like late
responses & busy-forming attitude, makes
the guy feel u don't take him serious or
that u have plenty male admirers keeping
u busy! If your really that busy why no
contest for presidency so it will be obvious
stop it
8. Being too rigid! Never say never! That
guy or lady u met online today & feel he's
nobody or that she's ugly...or that he has
nothing to offer for u may be your true
partner in making. Many single ladies &
guys have lost their true partners out of
being too rigid and principled. Sometimes,
play fool & see what nature/life has in store
for you!

Pictures of a Baby Born with No Eyes

Richie Lopez, pictured above, is 3 months old
and is a baby boy that was born without eyes
to a family in Arizona.
According to his mother, Kelly Lopez, she had
a completely normal pregnancy. Her
ultrasounds never hinted her son would be
born without eyes. However, hours after
Richie's birth at Banner Desert Medical Center
in Mesa, Lopez became concerned when her
son still had not opened his eyes.
The staff, at first, thought his face was simply
swollen from birth. Thirteen days later, his
mother says
an MRI showed Richie did not have eyes.
"I think we were just in shock. Obviously very
upsetting," she told 3TV. "The first thought
through your mind is, how did this even
happen and how was it not even caught?"
The family still has no answers, and various
doctors have said that the condition is
extremely rare.
At seven weeks, Richie had expanders placed
in his eye sockets, which are designed to allow
the socket to grow and one day be able to hold
a prosthetic eyeball. They were held in with
sutures, but during feedings and burpings,
Richie managed to rub them both out.
One was lost and presumably eaten by the
family dog. Lopez found the other, and while
on the phone with a surgeon at 2 a.m., she was
able to re-insert it.
"It was so emotional, but I knew I had to do it.
I knew that he needed this and I had no other
choice; we were going to get it back in," Lopez
recalled.
The family members quickly developed a
positive attitude, but they are still learning to
deal with insensitive comments from people
in public. Richie now wears a pair of baby
sunglasses.
Doctors told the family Richie does have an
optic nerve, which keeps hope alive about him
being able to see one day.
"That would be amazing," his mother said. "I
do hope that one day that they'll be able to
either grow an eye or transplant an eye."
Richie is already enrolled in developmental
programs designed for blind babies and plays
with specially designed toys. The family is
determined to see him live a life that is
challenging but full.

Health and Emotional Benefits of Hugging and Cuddling

I was discoursing relationship and love-life
with a friend earlier today, and during the
discourse, he mentioned that hugging and
cuddling have health and emotional
benefits..and I was like 'Tell me something', so
I googled it, and found this great article from
HealthMeUp. Find it below..
Laughing, cuddling and hugging not only
display your affection towards your loved one,
but it can also be a health benefit. Multiple
researchers conclude that hugging and
cuddling can cure depression, stress, tension,
anxiety and loneliness.
A proper hug where you heart touches the
other person's heart can aid you with the
following health benefits:
Hugging leads to release of love hormones
called Oxytocin, which fights feeling of
depressions, loneliness and also fits of anger.
It promotes a sense of safety, trust and
honesty in a person.
A long hug results in an increase in serotonin
levels, which elevates your mood and makes
your happy.
As mentioned on mindbodygreen, "Hugs
strengthen the immune system. The gentle
pressure on the sternum and the emotional
charge this creates activates the Solar Plexus
Chakra. This stimulates the thymus gland,
which regulates and balances the body's
production of white blood cells, which keep
you healthy and disease free."
Hugging is a way improves one's self esteem
and helps in nurturing the ability to love
oneself.
As they boost blood circulation to the softer
tissues hugs can ease your pains, relax your
muscles and can also relax your body.
Hugs are similar to meditation or even
laughter. You're mind stops thinking and you
live in the moment. So you get out of your
circular thinking patterns and unite with your
heart, emotions and breathing simultaneously.
Hugs get you out of your circular thinking
patterns and connect you with your heart and
your feelings and your breath.
According to Virginia Satir, an American author
and psychotherapist, "We need four hugs a day
for survival. We need eight hugs a day for
maintenance. We need twelve hugs a day for
growth."

Boko Haram Attacks "Ordained By God" – Shettima

The Governor of Borno State, Kashim
Shettima, on Monday, asked victims of the
Boko Haram attack in Monguno to see the
incident as "ordained by God". He also prayed
for God's intervention to bring an end to the
security challenges.
Mr. Shettima, in a statement in Maiduguri,
expressed sadness over Sunday's attempt by
Boko Haram to take over Maiduguri, the Borno
State capital.
He asked the residents of the state to remain
calm and reassured them that security forces
were making frantic efforts to safeguard lives
and property.
He commended the gallantry of the military in
repelling the attack on the state capital.
He, however, regretted the attack on
Monguno, headquarters of Monguno Local
Government Area in the northern part of the
state.
He said that as result of that, properties were
destroyed, lives were lost and many people
were now taking refuge in different parts of
the state with some sustaining gun injuries.
Mr. Shettima said the government was
screening and taking records of surviving
victims from Monguno with a view to
accommodating and offering them immediate
palliatives as internally displaced persons.
The statement said the administration was
providing necessary support to armed forces
involved in counter insurgency operations
across the state.
He promised to continue to do everything
humanly possible until territories seized by
insurgents were reclaimed and sustainable
peace and stability achieved.

Yuguda, an APC mole in PDP —FCT minister

The Federal Capital Territory Minister, Senator Bala
Mohammed, has described the Bauchi State Governor,
Isa Yuguda, as an All Progressives Congress' mole in
the Peoples Democratic Party.
Mohammed, who denied being the mastermind of the
attack on President Goodluck Jonathan's convoy in
Bauchi by political thugs on January 22, described
Yuguda's allegation against him as irrational.
The governor had fingered Mohammed as the sponsor
of the attack on the President's convoy during a
campaign in Bauchi, but the minister in a statement by
his special aide on media, Nosike Ogbuenyi, in Abuja
on Monday, stated that Yuguda's allegation was
embarrassing.
He queried the governor's allegiance to the PDP and
wondered when he became the APC spokesman.
Mohammed said, "It is simply irrational for Governor
Yuguda to allege that the minister hired thugs to stone
and embarrass himself (minister) while addressing the
presidential rally in his home state. By this claim,
Yuguda has proven correct the allegation that he has
been hobnobbing with the APC at night and running
with the PDP in daytime.
"By Yuguda's latest embarrassing conduct, he has
successfully exposed his chameleonic character as an
APC mole in the PDP. We call on Isa Yuguda to please
respect himself by leaving Senator Bala Mohammed
alone."
The minister wondered why the governor exonerated
the APC of culpability in the attack on the PDP
presidential campaign team in Bauchi, noting that
Yuguda had not been campaigning for Jonathan in his
state.
"Many Nigerians still remember recent media reports
that Yuguda is the real godfather and sponsor of the
APC governorship candidate in Bauchi State and that
he has not been campaigning for President Jonathan's
re-election in the state. Again, history is there to
expose the governor as an unabashed fifth columnist
in the PDP," Mohammed stated.
He said that he had consistently suffered attacks from
the negative politics in the state for his support for the
President, adding that in 2011, thugs protesting
against Jonathan's victory in the elections, razed down
his two-storey building and almost killed his mother
and other relatives in Bauchi.
The minister stated that his only sin was that he
mobilised lawmakers to invoke the 'Doctrine of
Necessity' to confer powers on the then Vice President
Jonathan to act as President while the late President
Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was away in Saudi Arabia for
Medical Intention

Buhari ’ll lead military to fight B’Haram – Osinbajo

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.) will
lead the military to the North-East to fight the Boko
Haram insurgents if voted into power on February 14,
his running mate, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo (SAN), said on
Monday.
Osinbajo expressed concern over deepening
insecurity in the country and accused President
Goodluck Jonathan of reneging on his promise to
protect Nigerians.
Fielding questions from a group of youths at a town
hall meeting in Abuja, the APC vice presidential
candidate said Buhari as President and Commander-
In-Chief would lead by example.
The town hall meeting held under the aegis of Act Now
Professionals.
Osinbajo told the gathering how the Buhari-led
government would end insurgency in the country,
especially in the North-East states of Borno, Yobe and
Adamawa.
He also explained how the APC-led government would
rescue the over 200 female students of Government
Secondary School, Chibok, Borno State, seized since
April 14 2014; equip the military and give the country
a sense of protection.
Osinbajo said, "The first priority is security and to
question what has gone wrong in the military. Then,
funding the military adequately and ensuring that the
Commander-In-Chief leads from the front. But when
he was Commander-In-Chief, Buhari led from the
front as a soldier. You cannot lead from the rear. You
cannot fail to go to where the insurgency is taking
place and that is what Buhari has been saying.
"I think that the major problem with the question of
security is again that it was not prioritised by this
government. It was not taken seriously enough from
the beginning. When you have a situation, you do not
politicise the insurgency like that. You do not point to
the opposition and say it is the opposition that is
sponsoring it until General Buhari almost lost his life
when Boko Haram attacked him.
"We must start by understanding that there is a war
going on in that part of the country and what the
government need to do is to get the nation behind it,
not pointing accusing fingers at wrong places.
"We need to look at the whole question of funding and
equipping the military. The military at the moment is
not equipped. I worked with Femi Falana on the
mutiny of some solders and what is the complaint of
those soldiers who were charged with mutiny? Their
complaint is that they were not given equipment and
they wanted them to go to battle. So, how do you say
that? How does anybody think that you can fight the
insurgents without ammunitions?"
The APC vice presidential candidate said that there
would be no hiding place for perpetrators of graft as
the country's laws that forbid looting of public
treasury would be activated.
According to him, the APC will run a transparent
government where public officials would be
accountable to the people.
Osinbajo said creation of jobs for the country's youths
remained on top of the agenda of the APC if elected
into office.
"Jobs and creation of employment opportunities have
been major issues in the manifesto of the APC," he told
the audience.
He re-echoed the party's earlier promise that the
Buhari-led government would place jobless and poor
Nigerians on monthly stipends of N5,000 and N7,000
respectively.
"The idea is to take 2.5 million people out of poverty
every year. We will give free healthcare to children. We
will follow the example of Osun State where such has
been done successfully," he said.

Lawyer sues over Buhari’s certificate

A legal practitioner, Mr. Chukwunweike Okafor, on
Monday, approached the Federal High Court in Abuja
with an application seeking a declaration that the
presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress,
Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), lacked the
educational qualification to stand for the February 14
presidential election.
The originating summons marked FHC/ABJ/
CS/01/2015 has Buhari, APC and the Independent
National Electoral Commission as the first, second and
third defendants respectively.
The suit was filed pursuant to Section 131 of the
Constitution, which prescribes a minimum
qualification for nomination to participate in the
presidential election and Section 31 of the Electoral
Act that requires all presidential candidates to depose
to an affidavit that they have satisfied and complied
with the constitutional requirements to be President
of Nigeria.
Okafor, in the suit filed through his counsel, Chief Ugo
Ugunnadi, is contending that Buhari's form CF001 with
the INEC, wherein he stated that he obtained the
minimum educational qualification of West African
Senior School Certificate could not be valid as the said
certificate was allegedly false or not genuine.
The plaintiff, among other things, is asking the court to
declare that "the information contained in Buhari's
affidavit dated November 24, 2014, stating that the
Secretary of the Military Board was in custody of his
WASSC was false and thereby disqualified him from
contesting the 2015 general elections."
The lawyer is therefore seeking an order of the court
"compelling INEC to withdraw, remove and/or delete
the names of the 1st and 2nd defendants from the list
of persons or political parties eligible to contest for the
Office of the President of Nigeria in the 2015 general
elections."
The courts reopened today after being shut down for
three weeks by the striking judicial workers in the
country.
No date has yet been fixed to hear Okafor's originating
summons.

BREAKING NEWS: Obasanjo Decamp To APC

This is not just breaking news, it is also
breath-taking but it is always our pleasure to
bring you firsthand information so as to
keep you abreast of happenings in and out
of Nigeria.
Research has it that the former President of
Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo aka OBJ, has
finally defected to the GMB-Driven party –
APC.
This is a shocker but speaking with the
former President OBJ himself at his farm in
Ota, he has given a few reasons why his
defecting should not just be accepted by
Nigerians but should also be applauded.
Find his statement below:
"I have reason to believe that most or
should I say all of you are wondering why I
have chosen to defect to the defunct APC
and I must say that if I had been told that I
would have to switch party some 5 years
ago, I myself would have argued it.
I believe in transparency and integrity but
unfortunately, PDP is an opposite of such
attributes.
They dwell in deception and in the lowest
form of debase if I may say.
I believe change is what Nigeria needs and
regardless of whether GMB can deliver or
not, it is still change in a way. Nigeria needs
to be delivered from a useless government
that has taken over since I left presidency.
If you have read my book, you will see that
Jonathan is nothing different from my VP
when I was president. Atiku was just a big
time backbiter unknown to him that when
you have people behind you, your back
actually becomes visible to you.
I want to use this medium to say a very big
thank you to the leaders of the APC for
accepting me as I am and I am proud to say
that come 2015, APC is taking over Nigeria
for good of us all.
I am a civilian like you all now so I
understand what it means to live in the
suburbs as you are all aware that I stay
nowhere else apart from my village here in
Ota.
Finally, I would like to implore all Nigerians
that come 2015 Elections, VOTE GOOD
GOVERNMENT NOT GOOD LUCK"

Dear Men, 5 Reasons Women Are Rejecting You.

So you worked up the courage to approach an attractive woman and start a conversation. But as soon as you opened your mouth, she found a reason to get away from you. There might be a specific reason why she rejected you. The simple point is that most guys cause rejection by what they’re doing. Here are five common reasons why women are rejecting you.

1. You have bad breath
Although the right words may be coming out of your mouth, bad breath may be what’s turning the ladies off. Bad breath is one of the biggest turnoffs you can display to the opposite sex. If you have foul breath no matter how rich you are or drive a fancy sports car, women will avoid you at all times. 2. You’re overly aggressive
Women don’t like it when a man they have just met insists on touching her too often. There is no need to touch a woman if you just met her. Women mostly prefer cool, calm, gentle and well-mannered men. When you are too aggressive with a woman, you creep her out, get pushed away and you get rejected.

3. You’re using the wrong approach
Most men approach women in the wrong fashion. Most women are really tired of hearing played out, cheesy pick-up lines. Also, being an arrogant man who is always talking about himself and knows it all is sure to make the ladies run far, far away. Women like confident and not cocky.

4. You’re being too needy
Women are not attracted to the type of man who needs too much support, validation, and constant reinforcement from women. If you come across as the kind of guy that is going to have to be with her 24/7 and you do not have a life or interests of your own, you are probably going to face rejection from a woman.

5. You’re using the wrong body language
Your body language has a huge effect on attraction, and if you start talking to a woman and your posture is slumped and your eyes are darting around but not meeting hers, you’re probably not going to get a favorable response. Keep in mind that a man’s appearance actually means a lot to a woman when she first meets him. If you are dressed sloppy or you have your pants pulled up to your chest with your shirt tucked into them, a woman may not want to be seen with you.

Why We Have Not Been Able To Rescue Chibok Girls – Jonathan

President Goodluck Jonathan has clarified why the
central government had not possessed the capacity to
recover the stole Chibok young ladies.
Talking, yesterday, at the castle of the Shehu of Borno,
where he had gone to pay tribute to the conventional
ruler, when his crusade train got to the state, the
president faulted the non-recover of the stole Chibok
young ladies on outside powers.
He however guaranteed that his organization would do
everything conceivable to end the Boko Haram
uprising in the advancing months.
He guaranteed that his organization would revamp the
regions influenced by the rebellion after the
administration closes it.
This will be accomplished utilizing activities like the
Victim Support Fund, Presidential Initiative for North-
east and Safe School Initiative.
Budgetary assignment to the influenced states will
likewise be expanded.
Jonathan pledged that his organization would
reconstruct and overhaul Borno State in such a path,
to the point that kids will have admittance to
instruction and better future.
"We feel the torment of Borno individuals. I for one
vibe more tormented when individuals blame me for
being included in the issue for some political
preference.
I have said it ordinarily that my aspiration is not
justified even despite the blood of any Nigerian.
What's more I don't think any president or person can
do what they blame me for doing," the president said.
"The Boko Haram issue is the thing that I thought we
would have finished long prior yet may be outer
impact or investment is influencing us.
I am guaranteeing you however that it won't take us
more than a couple of months to end this uprising and
restore peace in Borno.
"Our kin must come back to their groups. Insha
Allahu, we will recover our Chibok young ladies,"
Jonathan said.

All ya people that watch porn in Nigeria, get in here! FG is planning to ban it

The National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd.), says the Federal Government is planning to introduce a law that will ban and block all porn websites in the country. He stated this at the closing ceremony of a three-day workshop on use of social media organised for Islamic preachers, Imams and youths in Kaduna on Sunday.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the workshop, which was organised by the national body of Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunna, aimed at correcting anomalies in the use of social media.

Dasuki, who was represented by the Minister of Special Duties, Alhaji Kabiru Turaki, said,
“Government is planning to ban and block websites that inculcate negative attitudes in our children but we need a law to support such move. Because without a law, people can go to court and claim infringement on their rights.”

Buhari promises Igbo youths one million jobs

The presidential candidate of the All Progressives
Congress, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has
promised to create one million jobs for Igbo youths
by revamping huge coal deposits in Enugu State for
generation of electricity and export.
Buhari said this at the Enugu West APC zonal rally on
Saturday, where he was represented by the
spokesman of the party in the South-East, Osita
Okechukwu.
Speaking through Okechukwu, the presidential
candidate explained that the coal industry would be
revamped with the objective of generating electricity
to serve the entire South-East.
He assured the people that he would award the
contract immediately he comes into office to avoid
the mistakes made by the Peoples Democratic Party,
which he said squandered over N2bn voted for a coal
project between 2012 and 2014.
"We are banking on huge coal deposits located at
Amasiodo, Inyi and Leje axis of Enugu Coal belt. We
are going to award contract for mining and
construction of coal-fired power plant, unlike the PDP
that since 1999 promised to revamp the coal fields
and 16 years after, nothing has been done.
"We believe that coal is the most abundant fossil fuel
in Enugu State and Enugu Coal is one of the most
qualitative coal brands in the world, which means that
while some are used to generate electricity, some will
be exported," he said.
The former Head of State said his objective was to
create one million jobs directly and indirectly from
the coal sector, as ancillary projects would follow.
"My idea is to emulate the Taichung Coal-Fired Power
Plant in Taiwan, the largest coal power station in the
world.
"Coal supplies 46 per cent electricity in the United
States and over 60 per cent electricity in China – it is
callous to abandon such a golden treasury.
"For 16 years, every election Igbo voted for the PDP
and yet, the coal belt remains untapped; hence there is
no commensurate reward.
"In 2014 budget, for instance, over N600bn capital
projects were executed in the South-South, while less
than N200bn was executed in the South-East. Is that
equity or justice?"
Also speaking at the rally, the APC Vice Chairman in the
Enugu East, Anike Nwoga, expressed confidence that
Buhari would win the presidential election.
Nwoga said, "Many of you are Catholics. Did you hear
what Father Mbaka said? Every patriot must vote for
the APC."
The statement disclosed that three senatorial
candidates from other political parties – Chukwu
Ijeoma of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, Mabel
Onwukwe of the Labour Party and Nwabuike Oliver of
the Advanced Congress of Democrats – endorsed
Buhari as their candidate for the February 14
Presidential election rally

Jonathan’ll defeat Buhari – Anenih

The Chairman, Board of Trustees of the Peoples
Democratic Party, Chief Tony Anenih, has urged
Nigerians not to be deceived that President Goodluck
Jonathan will not secure a re-election in next month's
presidential election.
Anenih, who said this during a rally on Sunday in
Uromi, the headquarters of Esan North-East Local
Government of Edo State, noted that he had recently
visited some northern states and with what he saw, the
PDP would emerge victorious in the February
elections.
Also, present at the rally were the Minister for Works,
Mike Onolemenmen, a chieftain of the party, Chief
Tom Ikimi; state Chairman of the party, Chief Dan
Orbih and other state executive members.
The BOT chairman specifically said that the PDP would
win Kwara and Sokoto states and defeat the candidate
of the All Progressives Congress, Maj. Gen.
Muhammadu Buhari (retd.).
He said, "Don't be deceived if anyone tells you
Jonathan will not win. I went out to see things for
myself. Four days ago I was in Kwara State. As I was
leaving after sitting for five hours, I knew that we have
won Kwara.
"Two days ago as Buhari was landing in Sokoto, I was
also landing in Sokoto and by the time I was leaving, I
knew we have got Sokoto State. These are northern
states."
Anenih also urged the people of the state to support
the PDP at the polls.
He added that it would be a sad tale to vote for the
APC candidates at all levels because "you don't take
food from your son for a dog."
"Coming back home, it will be a sad tale for any
member of the South- South region to vote for the
APC candidates, whether in the Houses of Assembly,
House of Representatives, Senate, governorship or
Presidential election. It will be so bad; you take food
from your son to a dog," he said.

Jonathan's Team trapped as Boko Haram attacks Maidugri

Members of the presidential advance team
that accompanied President Goodluck
Jonathan to Saturday's presidential campaign
rally in Maiduguri, Borno State, have been
trapped in the Borno State capital, following an
attack launched on the town by Boko Haram
terrorists.
They were scheduled to leave Maiduguri after
the rally on Saturday, but had been advised to
stay back for their safety by the military
authorities. The advanced team is made up of
security personnel, other staff attached to the
president and the media.
It was learnt that the armed forces were
battling the insurgents while members of the
advanced team had taken refuge at the offices
of the Department of State Services (DSS)
within the state capital, over which a curfew
had already been imposed. The team was still
holed up as serious fighting raged between the
military and the terrorists on Sunday
afternoon.
However, the situation was said to have been
brought under control at the time of this
report, with the military fully in control of the
city.
They were said to have extended their search
for remnants of the terrorists to the
surrounding villages, with a view to clearing
them away and creating security cordon for
the team to leave the town.
One of those trapped said on telephone from
Maiduguri on Sunday that "they (military) said
they have to comb the bushes to get rid of the
insurgents and they said they might not finish
today, meaning that we cannot leave today
(Sunday).
"Those trapped in the president's team
are members of the media, medical and
security personnel. The protocol team
took risk and left on their own. That was
before the terrorists started advancing.
"We wanted to join them but we were
warned by the security guys. The protocol
believed it was riskier to join convoy
because it would have attracted the
attention of the Boko Haram. We are now
regretting we didn't follow them."
Meanwhile, the Nigerian military, on Sunday,
launched both air and land attacks on Boko
Haram sect members in Maiduguri and
Mongunu, Borno State, in an attempt to repel
the insurgents, who tried to overrun the
towns.
It was gathered that the Boko Haram sect
made attempts to overrun Maiduguri, the
state capital, on Sunday, but the Nigerian
military was quick to repel the attacks.
Meanwhile, curfew has been imposed on
Maiduguri with immediate effect, till further
notice, as Nigerian troops continue to repel
attacks by terrorists around Maiduguri and
Mongunu.
According to a statement issued by PRNigeria,
calm had been restored in Maiduguri and
Konduga, as operations continued with patrols
and surveillance.
The curfew on Maiduguri is expected to be
relaxed as soon as mopping operation is
concluded.
