Mother, son die in Lagos multiple accidents

An unidentified woman and her son lost their lives in
the early hours of Friday when a truck crashed into
three commercial buses at the Ketu end of the popular
Ikorodu Road in Lagos.
According to eyewitnesses, who spoke with our
correspondent shortly after the incident, the driver of
the truck carrying two fully loaded containers and
marked Lagos SMK98XF lost control of the vehicle
before ramming into the buses which were picking
passengers on the road.
Two of the buses were marked Lagos SMK-406XF and
Lagos KH318-KRD. The third which why a TATA luxury
bus had been moved away from the scene when our
correspondent arrived.
One of the containers fell on the victims while the
other destroyed the buses completely, dragging them
more than 10 meters from the point of first contact.
Shoes, clothes and other items belonging to victims
littered the scene of the sad event.
An official of the Federal Road Safety Corps, who was
among several uniformed personnel on ground
controlling the large crowd that gathered at the scene
of the accident, told Saturday PUNCH that about eight
injured persons were rescued from the buses before
being rushed to the hospital.
Commercial buses plying the route are notorious for
indiscriminate picking of passengers on the service
and express lanes thereby causing gridlock almost
throughout the day.
